Hungarian filmmaker Ildiki Enyedi is set to receive a career achievement award at this year’s Cairo Film Festival.
The critically acclaimed screenwriter and director is a distinct voice in the world of independent auteur cinema and has gone from strength to strength in a career that saw her rise to international acclaim when she won the Camera d’Or for her debut feature My Twentieth Century.
The offbeat and provocative drama Of Body and Soul (2017), won the Berlinale Golden Bear and was later nominated for the Academy Awards.
Her latest outing, Silent Friend, had its world premiere at the Biennale de Venezia in September. The film will screen at Cairo International Film Festival as part of the official selection.
Other titles in her filmography include Magic Hunter, A Gyar, Tamas and Juli, Simon, the Magician, and The Story of My Wife.
Enyedi was a professor for film in Budapest and served as a member of various juries at international film festivals, such as the presidency of the short film jury in Cannes. Enyedi will be awarded with the Golden Pyramid Career Achievement award of the 46th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival.
