John Carpenter hasn’t tried to be funny for a very long time, and for Chevy Chase this film represents a considerable change of pace.

After a freak accident, he plays a company executive who turns completely invisible, goes on the run, and becomes hunted by the CIA

Starting off quietly enough, he looks increasingly agitated in realising he’s becoming invisible; which attracts the unwanted attention of sundry interested parties

As in ‘Shallow Hall’ only the audience can see the reality and Chase remains visible to us and to himself throughout; although we see fanciful special effects such as bubble gum inflating itself without visible means of support.

All of which is told in the time-honoured fashion in the past tense in the form of a message on an answering machine. @RichardChatten
